About Mobility Research Centre

Mobility Research Centre is a New Zealand owned and operated organisation whose primary focus is the supply and installation of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators to aid blind and vision impaired pedestrians negotiate the built environment with dignity and safety.

Established in 1989 and based in Newmarket, Auckland, Mobility Research Centre is responsible for introducing New Zealand's first Tactile Ground Surface Indicators for the orientation of the blind and people with visual impairment.

Mobility Research has worked closely with various disability organisations, local government, architects, planners and contractors in an effort to achieve a practical and consistent approach to the application of Tactile Indicators in the built environment. This combined approach together with our specialist knowledge and top quality products and services has cemented the Company's reputation.

As New Zealand’s most experienced tactile provider, having completed many thousands of successful installations over our twenty three year history, Mobility Research is widely recognised as leading New Zealand in the Tactile Indicator field and specified by local authorities, consultants and architects with confidence.

The design and manufacture of Mobility Research Centre Tactile products is undertaken in New Zealand by three independent factories jointly employing 25 to 30 personnel with the highest emphasis on ensuring the very best standard is consistently met.
